The GS 850 G was Suzuki’s answer to the absence of a dedicated touring motorcycle in their line up. Suzuki took the successful GS 750 platform and modified the motorcycle to better suit the demands of touring enthusiasts. The GS 750’s engine was selected and the displacement was increased to 850cc which brought the power output to 77bhp. The engine was also modified from a chain final drive to a shaft drive unit to reduce maintenance and noise. The front forks were borrowed from the sportier GS 1000 and a large 5.8 gallon fuel tank was fitted.

This combination of part and modifications made GS 850 G a very capable sports touring motorcycle that garnered many positive reviews due to its excellent road manners while still maintaining a fun, sporty character.

This ‘81 Suzuki GS 850 G is a completely original example with only 9000 miles on the clock. It is in very good condition cosmetically, the only flaws are a dent on the tank (pictured) from something being dropped on it during storage and a few normal scratches from use. This is a extremely fun and surprising modern feeling motorcycle. It features a 6 speed transmission, a gear position indicator on the dash, dual front disk brakes and a smooth, yet sporty ride.
